What happened to the Small Export Crop Farmers?

Our farmers who cultivate minor export crops are in dire straits today. So far, they have not been able to sell anything at the prices that they were hoping for and neither were they able to be sold at prices that the government had promised. There is no such preparation for this at the moment, even just five years after the 100 days.

The government sold a kilo of pepper at Rs. 1000 then but today it is only Rs.400. The current price of a kilo of Cinnamon is Rs. 3400, when back then it was at a price of Rs. 4000. A kilo of Goraka (Indian Tamarind) has dropped from Rs 350 to Rs 100 today. Our farmers who supply the best cinnamon to the world market have to sell it at a very low price. Exporters of this country have to face such a crisis due to the low import of foreign resources without the local consumption of the country's resources. Exporters of this country have to face such a crisis due to the low import of foreign resources without the local consumption of the country's resources. Some politicians engage in such fraudulent ventures in order to secure their personal money, and from this our own Nation's farmers that have many innocent hopes and who had voted the Yahapalana government into power are the ones who become helpless from this. An election is coming, and along with that a lot of promises are coming out again, but don't let it happen this time too. Be smart and use your valuable vote wisely. Otherwise, we are the ones who become helpless at the end of it.
