By the time President Ranasinghe Premadasa passed away on May 1, 1993, Sajith was enjoying the snowy climate in England. When Hema Premadasa received the news of the death of his father on the phone, who is Ranasinghe Premadasa, Sajith suddenly said, "Then Mother can take over the title of President" which shocked his mother a whole lot. Upto this day, he does not say anything to Ranil because Sajith knows that if Ranil discloses what he said when he was young, he would have to go back to England for sure. The UNP strongman who provided this information had told the correspondent that Sajith's character is full of unhealthy traits.
